“I was a failed student, lacking the techniques I needed to help me and frustrated because I really wanted to learn and be successful at what I wanted to do. The saying, ‘It takes one to know one!’ is most apt. When you have been there yourself and worked your way through, you gain a very good grasp of what barriers there are. Often students don’t recognise the obstacles at the time. When I looked back I could see that all the learning problems I had run into were actually quite common among people who had problems with learning. However, I realised that these barriers didn’t only confront people with learning problems. Many people find themselves unable to use the information that they need for their work. As a failed student I could see what was happening with people and understand their frustration. Based on my own experience, I developed a coaching method that would enable any person, not only to gain knowledge, but to be able to actually use that knowledge.”
